National Association For Holistic Aromatherapy Notifies Membership of HR 5786

Earlier today, and on August 4, 2010, Kelly Holland Azzaro RA, president of The National Association For Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA), notified via email NAHA’s membership of HR 5786, shared the Petition, and shared told their members of the Indie Beauty Network’s position that the legislation, as written, is not good for consumers or small scale cosmetics manufacturers. (Changed to clarify that they shared IBN’s position with their members, not that they share IBN’s position. NAHA has informed me that its bylaws prevent it from taking a formal position on legislation.)

NAHA is an educational, nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing public awareness of the benefits of true aromatherapy. NAHA is actively involved with promoting and elevating academic standards in aromatherapy education and practice for the profession.

Many members of NAHA are also members of IBN, and make cosmetics products such as aromatherapy massage oils and balms. Their products contain only natural ingredients, such as essential oils extracted by steam distillation from plant materials and cold pressed vegetable oils.

We would like to thank NAHA for sharing this urgent information with its members, and look forward to possibly working with the organization toward reasonable cosmetics law reform.
